OUR STORY Founded in 1988 by Natural Health Practitioner, Dr Bo Hendgen D.O. N.D. A.M., Absolute Essential is a company built on sustainability principles to promote health and wellbeing for our global future.

 A doctor of Osteopathy and Naturopathy with qualifications in Aromatic Medicine from France, Bo came to New Zealand 35 years ago with two young children (a 3 year old and a 3 month old), a backpack and $50 in her pocket. Early on, while setting up her holistic healthcare practice here, Bo struggled to find the level of quality, pure-state essential oils that she needed (and that she’d been used to dealing with in France) in order to operate her clinic professionally. So she decided to source her own – and Absolute Essential was born. Starting small, Bo used a back room in her home to create the original Absolute Essential foundation range. Then, in an effort to achieve a greater degree of sustainable green business practice, she moved from the city to the countryside and focused on growing Absolute Essential into the world-leading, organic and vegan certified therapeutic plant oil producer that it is today.
 Bo’s founding pledge for the company was to source and protect the world’s finest natural plant extracts for maximum therapeutic value. What are the best methods of wash and care? Every fabric has its own care and wash instructions that will help to keep your garment in top condition. Our advice: Spot clean when you can and avoid overwashing, as this can help the natural fibers maintain their strength for years to come and reduces water usage. 70% cotton 30% linen Hand wash or machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry and iron on low if desired. 95% organic cotton 5% elastane Machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Tumble dry low and iron on low if desired. 100% organic cotton (waffle, knit) Machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry and iron on low if desired. 100% organic cotton (jersey, twill) Machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Tumble dry low and iron on low if desired. 80% organic cotton 15% polyamide 5% elastane cotton (knit) Machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry and do not iron. 100% cotton (muslin, corduroy) Machine wash cold on delicate cycle. Tumble dry low and iron on low if desired. 100% merino wool Hand wash only as needed. Always lay flat to dry. Drying may cause shrinkage and faster wear over time. 100% linen Hand wash with cold water as needed. Lay flat to dry and iron on low if desired. 78% recycled polyamide, 22% elastane (swimwear fabric) Machine wash cold. Turn garments inside out before washing and drying. Color may transfer, wash with similar colors.
